We're going to win. Because some of us have honor and we know that we have heroes left. We have instinctive drives to fight for our people, to fight for humanity, to fight against tyranny, to fight against corrupt, criminal law enforcement like they have in Russia or Mexico. It's an idea that our forefathers fought and died for. The price of Freedom is eternal vigilence. It's just that simple.

Article and Audio Bush is hoping you don't hear.

[UPDATED - With apologies to the San Jose Mercury News, which was
erroneously reported as not having covered the Badnarik arrest at
all, it has be learned that they did indeed carry an AP article
which mentioned it, albeit briefly. This article has been updated
with the latest information and links to multimedia as of 10-19-04.]

Michael Badnarik, Presidential nominee of the Libertarian Party, is
on the ballot in 48 states. Before Bush came to power, the Libertarian
Party has been on the ballot in all 50 states since 1992. While never
getting a large percentage of the vote, they are, without dispute, the
third largest political party in the country with more supporters and
elected officials than all the other third parties combined.

Which is why it is a little funny that the national news media in this
country completely ignores Badnarik, not only not giving him any coverage,
but also by not including him in any polls.

Channel One is an independent media station for schools that is broadcast
via satellite and is viewed in tens of thousands of schools across the nation.
They emphasize "The Power of One" and are now (today and tomorrow) conducting
the largest mock election for 6-12 grades in American history via voter codes
and the internet. Here is a screenshot of the ballot:

As you can see, it only lists Bush and Kerry. What kind of message does
that send to our children? What kind of message does that send to the
rest of the world?

As of 10-19-04, USA Today was only listing one other choice besides Bush or
Kerry. No doubt they will quickly change it, but right now, only Nader, who
is only on the ballot in 35 states, is shown besides Bush and Kerry. Even
Peroutka, of the Constitution Party, is on the ballot in more states than
Nader, with 36 states. and he is not listed either.

The USA Today and our children's Channel One are typical of the media coverage
of Badnarik and not some isolated exception. Remember how much coverage the
Presidential Debates got, with record numbers of viewers? Remember the universal
reviews of boredom with the staged questions? It's not suprising when you
consider what they intentionally left out. CNN and Fox News both had cameras
outside at the second Presidential Debate, but here is what they have
decided you did not need to see or know about....

A Possible News Story:
October 8TH, 2004 The Presidential Debates, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

What if some other country were having an election, and citizens were only
allowed to hear from two government-approved candidates? What if their
opposition, candidates on the ballot in a majority of states, were arrested
on the orders from the leader in power, during the Presidential Debates,
would this be news?

The USA Today, the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle,
New York Daily News, Seattle Times, Indianapolis Star, Boston Globe, Seattle
Post Intelligencer, Miami Herald, San Francisco Chronicle, San Diego Union
Tribune, Kansas City Star and a long list of other so-called newspapers decided
for whatever reason to spike the story.

There have been documented instances where people have gone on Fox News and CNN
and been told that they would not be allowed to say Badnarik's name. This
country is 14 days away from a presidential election and there has been no
national exposure of the 3rd party alternatives available to the voters.

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization,
it expects what never was and never will be. The functionaries of every
government have propensities to command at will the liberty and property
of their constituents. There is no safe deposit for these but with the
people themselves; nor can they be safe with them without information.
Where the press is free, and every man able to read, all is safe."
-Thomas Jefferson

"Since the general civilization of mankind, I believe there are more instances
of the abridgment of the freedom of the people, by gradual and silent
encroachments of those in power, than by violent and sudden usurpations."
-James Madison

Since Bush came to power there has been a steady attack on Freedom and
Rights in America. The Patriot Act, secret courts, endorsed torture,
endorsed torture via foreign cooperation, people locked up for holding
a sign or having a bumper sticker not in favor of our current President,
all in the name of the war on terror, justified by the 9-11 tragedy,
the details of which President Bush has been working hard to make sure
you don't find out about. With Patriot Act 2, the draft, and compulsory
community service looming on the horizon, a future with Bush or Kerry
in power does not look well for the Freedom minded Americans that made
this country great, and we are not sitting idly by.

It is incumbent on all of us Americans to insist that U.S. citizens have
a meaningful opportunity to meet with lawyers and present their side of
the story -- and to insist that courts know what they're talking about
before consigning people to their fates. It is also incumbent upon us to
inform ourselves, since the Press is AWOL, about ALL of the choices
available for the Presidency on November 2ND.

The press has been shown to have been guilty in willingly participating in
the propaganda effort leading up to the war in Iraq and have stood silently
by while our God given rights are taken away systematically. We will not be
driven by fear into an age of unreason. The fact that Indymedia's servers
were seized so easily by the FBI should be regarded as the warning bell
that the attack on Freedom on the Internet has begun.

Imagine the howl of protest we would have heard had the Dept. Of Homeland
Security marched in and grabbed the presses of the NY Times. Journalists of
their own are being threatened with jail. I guess when you are up against
the world's most powerful force you just shut up and hope they don't decide
to completely wipe you out.

Extraordinary measures will need to be taken by Team Badnarik. Word of mouth,
home printers, and the disassociated internet groups are all that is available
at this late hour. Will it be enough? I have faith in the American people,
and if they can be woken up to the what the media has been doing, we have a
real chance to change things for the better come November 2ND. The internet is
famous for routing around censorship, and I firmly believe that the 'Net
will play a deciding role in this highly charged election.

The American public will have to inform themselves. And then, on November 2ND,
they will let their voice be heard at the polls. The terrorists and dictators
of the world want America to vote with a voice of fear, I have complete
trust that they will answer with a voice of bravery, truth, justice, and
the American way.

Nobody expected Badnarik to win at the convention in Atlanta either.

[AND NOW, from SOME random corner of Scott's
completely insane computer, let us ponder...]

"If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper,
before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone. The business of
journalists is to destroy the truth; to lie outright; to prevert; to vilify;
to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his
daily bread. You know it and I know it and what folly is this toasting an
independent press? We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the
scenes. We are the jumping jacks and they pull the strings and we dance.
Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other
men. We are intellectual prostitutes."
-- John Swinton, Chief of Staff for the New York Times
