Interview with Radha Vij, an online columnist with politicalstorm.com, who travelled to San Diego & attended many of the panels at the official N.A.B. conference. We discuss issues of representation in media, and examine some of the flaws of independent journalism.

Last week, the National Association of Broadcasters, or N.A.B., perhaps the most influential lobbying body on Capitol Hill, held their annual "Radio Road Show" convention in San Diego, CA. Meanwhile, independent journalists, and media activists from around the US also converged for their own gathering, dubbed Media EmegenC, to open up a dialogue about the successes and failures of the media democracy movement. Local organizers with the Independent Media Center put on the four-day event, which featured video screenings, musical performances, street actions, workshops, and forums, addressing efforts to inject diversity and localism onto our airwaves.

Radha Vij, is a columnist with politicalstorm.com, a NYC website whose intent is to show a wide array of political beliefs and offers commentary on contemporary news events. She attended many of the panels at the official N.A.B. conference, where she interviewed participants for KRBS, a low-power radio station in Oroville, CA. I sat with Radha on the last day of the Media EmergenC conference, outside the World Beat Cafe, which sits directly in a flight path for planes landing at San Diego airport. We begin our interview with Radha talking about her online column, called Hindsight is Foresight.
