Learn how to build an FM transmitter and set up a low power FM broadcast station.

A four day workshop session sponsored by Free Radio Berkeley to teach you how to build FM broadcast transmitters (and other related items such as antennas) and set up a low power (15-100 watt) community radio station capable of covering a broadcast radius between 5 and 15 milesdepending on power, terrain and antenna height.

The workshop tutition is $100-$200 sliding scale. Kits for transmitters, antennas, etc. may be purchased for assembly during the workshop session. Average cost for a kit package which includes the transmitter, antenna, power supply and antenna cable runs between $300 and $600 depending on kits and power level chosen. Kits will be provided for assembly experience whether you purchase one or not. Hands-on experience is emphasized throughout the 4 day session

The last Radio Camp session, which runs Friday through Monday, will be held on September 3, 4, 5, 6 (Labor Day holiday weekend)

The Radio Camp starts at 10 am and ends at 6 pm everyday. Location is the Free Radio Berkeley shop in Oakland, California. Address is 2311 Adeline St., Unit P. Between 23rd Street and West Grand. Contact FRB for details on public transit connections.

An attempt will be made to make housing arrangements for out of town participants who request assistance. If possible, attendees should make their own housing arrangements. Ask for a listing local motels and hostels.

The Micropower Broadcasting primer, available from the FRB web site, will be used as one of the primary documents for the session.
